MILWAUKEE – Logan Farrington,
Raul Medina,
Gijs Van Schouten, and
Colin Alba of the Milwaukee men's soccer team have been named to the 2022 Academic All-District Soccer Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the organization announced late yesterday.
It's a career-first honor for each of the group, as well as the highest team total to earn the distinction in a single season for the Panthers, topping the former high-water mark of three set in 2019.
Farrington was once again a main piece of the offensive puzzle for the Panthers, leading the team in points with 17 (7G/3A) and goals with seven. He has been a First-Team All-Horizon League selection each of his first three seasons and also led the team in shots (52) and shots on goal (24). Among league leaders, the business management major and Horizon League Academic Honor Roll member finished third in shots, fourth in shots on goal, tied for fifth in goals, and fifth in total points. In league-only games, he was third with 1.29 points-per-game.
Medina, a team captain, continues to flourish for the Panthers and put together another solid season on the field, making 13 starts in 14 appearances while sitting fourth on the team in scoring with 12 points (4G/4A). The industrial engineering major is a regular member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
Van Schouten, a marketing major, has been the main starter in goal the past two seasons for the Panthers. This past fall, he started 11 games and posted a 2.27 goals-against average and was on the decision end of seven draws, including one shutout.
Alba, a finance major, was a spark off the bench for the MKE offense this fall. He made three starts among his 11 games played.
As members of the First Team in District 6, they will move on to the national ballot next month. That team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
