MILWAUKEE – Greta Carbone and
Mayya Perova of the Milwaukee tennis team picked up singles wins for the Panthers as the team fell 4-3 to Nebraska-Omaha Sunday afternoon from Elite – River Glen.

Mayya Perova kicked off the season strong, winning convincingly 6-2, 6-2 over ONU's Ines Absisan from the No. 2 singles line.
Reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year,
Greta Carbone, picked up right where she left off winning 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 over No. 1 Madison Gallegos. Carbone came up short in the second set 3-6, but rebounded in the third, dropping just two games (6-2) to win the match.
In doubles, the Black & Gold earned the point with wins from the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles line. Both lines went toe-to-toe with their Maverick opponents, but came out on top in the end.
Nikki Milner and Perova finished first from the No. 2 line, winning 7-5, while
Iva Stejskalova and Carbone wrapped up the point with a 7-6 (7-4) victory from the No. 1 line.
Up next, the Panthers will travel just down the road to take on Cardinal Stritch. The match is scheduled for Saturday, January 29 at 1 p.m. from Elite – North Shore in Milwaukee.
