Seniors Shine in 5-2 Victory over IUPUI

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – It was a successful senior day for the Milwaukee tennis team as the Panthers took down IUPUI, 5-2 Saturday afternoon from River Glen Elite.

The Panthers have dominated when at home, and Saturday's senior day was no different. MKE played a complete match from start to finish to take down conference foe, IUPUI, 5-2. With the win, the Panthers improve to 9-5, 2-3 and 7-1 when playing at River Glen Elite.

"Senior Days are always emotional, and today was no exception," said Panther head coach Jason Potthoff. "IUPUI came out swinging in the doubles and we did a good job of weathering the storm until we got our feet under us, and we ended up playing pretty good doubles. Singles was really tight in the first sets, but once we got some separation in second sets we were able to apply some scoreboard pressure and close it out. I'm really happy with our effort today and the seniors competed really hard, so now we've just got to refocus and do it again tomorrow."

Seniors Anna Daniel Fuentes and Agata Jurczak got off the courts first in doubles play, defeating Meghan Bernard and Samantha Hayward, 6-3. The Black & Gold clinched the point when Mayya Perova and Anika Tylek dominated Christina Stankovic and Sarah Lounsbury, 6-1.

In singles, Milwaukee picked up right where they left off in doubles, winning the first four matches to win the match.

Mayya Perova and Anika Tylek finished first, allowing just four games each in their match. Perova defeated Kyrstal Grubb, 6-3, 6-1 while Tylek earned her third victory of the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win over IUPUI's Ines Rivera.

Daniel Fuentes moved up to the No. 3 singles line and picked up her team leading 11th singles win, with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sarah Lousnbury.

Freshman standout, Greta Carbone, moved into double digit singles wins when she beat Gabrielle Ochalik, 6-4, 6-3.

MKE will look to sweep the series over the Jaguars tomorrow afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m. from River Glen Elite.
