Panthers Sweep Golden Grizzlies, 7-0

Box Score ROCHESTER, Mich. –  The Milwaukee tennis team took care of business in Saturday's match against the Golden Grizzlies, defeating Oakland 7-0 from the Oakland Tennis Courts.

This marks the third time this season that the Panthers swept it's opponent. With the win, the Panthers improve to 11-7, 4-5 while the Golden Grizzlies drop to 2-15, 2-7.

"We didn't play particularly well in the doubles but we did enough to get the point, and that was big for us," said Panther head coach Jason Potthoff. "Once we got into singles everyone loosened up a bit and executed at a pretty high level. There are some things we can clean up a bit for tomorrow, but the most important thing for us to do is stay focused and be ready to compete really hard again."

Up a match due an Oakland forfeit at the No. 3 doubles line, MKE clinched the point after No. 1 doubles team Greta Carbone and Nikki Milner defeated Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel, 6-4.

In singles, Nikki Milner and Greta Carbone got off the courts first, dropping just eight games between the two. Milner beat Joelle Tabernal 6-1, 6-3, while Carbone defeated Yasmin Glazbrook, 6-3, 6-1. Carbone now moves to a team best 14-3, 8-1 record – with 13 of those victories coming from the No. 1 singles line.

Senior Anna Daniel Fuentes got her groove back Saturday, taking full control of the first set 6-0, then winning 6-3 over Mia Melnzki. With the win, Daniel Fuentes sets a new career high with 13 singles victories.

Next, Mayya Perova picked up her seventh singles victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win, while Anika Tylek improved to 5-2 this season, winning 7-6 (5), 6-3 over Emma Hultqvist.

The Panthers and Golden Grizzlies will close out the weekend with a Sunday matinee at the OU Tennis Courts beginning at 12 p.m. (CT)
