Panthers Set for Golden Grizzlies on the Road

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – With just four regular season matches remaining, the Milwaukee tennis team will hit the road this weekend for a two-match series against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies beginning Saturday from the Oakland Tennis Courts.

Last Time Out: UIC came away with a 2-0 sweep over the Black & Gold, but MKE's Greta Carbone swept Flames' Tamara Malazoni from the No. 1 singles spot. She won 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday and followed up with a 5-7, 6-2, 10-3 victory the next day. With the wins, Carbone improves to 13-3, 7-1 record.

About the Golden Grizzlies: Currently, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies are 2-14, 2-6 and sit in sixth place in the Horizon League standings – one place below the Panthers.

Junior Yasmin Glazbrook lead the Golden Grizzlies with a 5-11, 3-5 record from the singles line – competing primarily from the No. 1 spot. In doubles, Glazbrook is teamed up with Nirva Patel primarily and are 5-5 at the No. 1 doubles line.

Mamma Mia! – Freshman Greta Carbone continues to make a strong case for Freshman of the Year while accumulating a 13-3, 7-1 record so far this season. Of those 13 wins, Carbone has tallied all but one of those victories from the No. 1 line. She is currently on a five-match win streak and is 7-3 in her last 10 matches.

#SeniorStatus: Senior Anna Daniel Fuentes is having a career year – accumulating 12 singles wins already, tying her career high. Daniel Fuentes is 12-4 overall, second on the team, and 8-1 from the No. 4 line. In her last 10 matches, she holds a 7-3 record.

The Tarragona native is also teamed up with classmate Agata Jurczak and the two lead the team with an 11-5, 4-3 record.
