CINCINATTI, Ohio – After a rough outing Saturday, the Milwaukee tennis team rebounded Sunday afternoon defeating Northern Kentucky 5-2 from the Five Seasons Sports Club in Cincinnati.
Strong play in both doubles and singles play, the Panthers (8-5, 1-3) split the series with the Norse (4-3-1, 1-1) after winning 5-2 in a Sunday matinee.
"To be blunt, we were pretty awful in every phase of the game yesterday, and I challenged each girl on the team to think about all the ways that we could be better today," said Panther head coach
Jason Potthoff. "They did exactly that, and went out and competed at an unbelievably high level against a really tough team. I'm very proud of this group and the character they showed today, and I'm excited to see them get out there and battle against next week."
MKE's
Mayya Perova and
Nikki Milner started off with the first win in doubles play defeating Ananya Kothakota and Elizabeth Rozin 6-3 from the No. 2 line, but the Norse squared it up when Maria Koo and Laura Grau defeated
