MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Athletic Department has opened its search for a new women's soccer coach after
Troy Fabiano was named the head coach at the University of Kentucky Tuesday evening.
Fabiano led the Panthers for the past seven seasons, reaching an unprecedented level of success. He led his teams to an overall record of 101-16-13 in his tenure, a winning percentage of .827 in that span. In league play, he was nearly unbeatable, posting a ledger of 58-2-4 in regular-season play, an incredible .938 winning percentage.
"Troy certainly did a remarkable job of leading our team to a great level of success on the field and in the classroom, and represented us with class during his time as our head coach," Director of Athletics
Amanda Braun said. "While we are excited for Troy and his family having this new opportunity, we are sad to see him move on after seven incredible seasons as our head coach."
The first conference field boss to be named Horizon League Coach of the Year five consecutive times (while also adding a sixth), Fabiano claimed six regular-season titles in his seven seasons – once going over 1,600 days in between losses (2016 to 2021). His Panthers won four Horizon League Tournament championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of the past four years.
In the past two seasons, MKE won a first-round NCAA contest each time. This past season, he tied the school record with a 19-win campaign (finishing 19-2), while leading the nation with a 0.37 goals-against average as well as being the top offense in the country up to the point they were eliminated from the postseason.
The past five years have been particularly impressive, going 77-7-7 in that span – the best win-loss record of any team across NCAA Division I soccer.
A national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
