MILWAUKEE – Andreas Soerensen and Paolo Gratton of the Milwaukee men's soccer team have been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, announced today by the league office.
 
For Gratton, the award marks a second straight campaign he has been selected, while it's a career-first for Soerensen. Jake Kelderman was also named an honorable-mention selection today.
 
Gratton, a 2020 All-Horizon League First Team member and all-region honoree, led the Horizon League last season with 22 points and finished fourth in the NCAA in goals. This fall, he has started 14 games, currently second on the team with four goals and third with eight points. A senior academically, he carries a 3.95 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major.
 
Soerensen has been a four-year starter for the Milwaukee defense and is a team captain. Named to the 2018 Horizon League All-Freshman Team, he has recorded an assist among his 14 games played on the backline this season. A Psychology major, he carries a 3.96 GPA in the classroom.
 
Kelderman has already earned his undergraduate degree in Finance and is now completing his Masters Degree in Finance this Fall with a GPA of 3.7 over his five-and-half years of college. Kelderman was also selected for a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Soccer Team for his work in the classroom.
 
A two-time team captain and two-time all-league choice, he has finished as one of the top minutes-played leaders each season (he played every minute of the season in 2020). He has started all 15 games this fall, recording four points on a pair of assists and the game-winning goal against Green Bay.
 
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
