CLEVELAND, Ohio – Reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year
Greta Carbone posted a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles for the Milwaukee tennis team on the second day of the Cleveland State Hidden Duals.
Carbone rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over CSU's Oihane Vicario to provide the lone win in singles play against the Vikings on the second day of competition. Senior
Anika Tylek notched a first set victory over Filippa Frogner, 6-4, but came up short in the match falling 6-4, 2-6, 0-1(7).
In doubles, seniors
Mayya Perova and
Nikki Milner picked up the first doubles win for the black & gold, securing a 7-5 win over Duquesne's Margo Pessy and Ana Utrilla Benito. The duo would end up 1-1 on the day after falling to Youngstown State's No. 1 team Ceci Rosas and Julia Marko, 6-3.
Iva Stejskalova and Carbone also wrapped up the day 1-1 in doubles. The sophomore classmates rebounded after a 6-3 loss to Duquesne with 6-0 sweep over YSU's Jessica Stanmore and Maria Oliveira.
Milwaukee will wrap up the invite Sunday with a final team singles match against Duquesne. First serve is set for 8 a.m. (CT).
