Panthers Open Season Against Cardinal Stritch

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team return to the courts this Saturday as host to the Cardinal Stritch Wolves to kick off the 2021 season.

The Panthers are Back: For the first time in nearly a year, the Panthers are back to compete at River Glen Elite, home of the Milwaukee Panthers. The dual against Cardinal Stritch marks MKE's first competition since facing UW-Whitewater on March 7, 2020 – days before the remainder of its season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Potthoff at the Helm: Jason Potthoff enters his fourth season with the Panthers. During his time with MKE, he has amassed 27 victories, including a six match improvement following the year he arrived. In 2018, he led the Panthers back to the Horizon League Tournament after a two year absence.

Seniors Lead the Way: Anna Daniel Fuentes returns to the Black & Gold with the NCAA granting 2020 spring student-athletes eligibility due to the pandemic. Fuentes ended 2020 with an 8-5 record from the No. 4 singles line, and played a pivotal role in the teams doubles lineup. Teamed up with fellow senior Agata Jurczak, the duo finished 8-3 together, helping the team to a combined 28-7 doubles record. Lucy Harper also returns to the lineup with notable experience in both singles and doubles.

Scouting the Wolves: The Panthers are currently on a five-match win streak against the Wolves. Around this date last year, Milwaukee swept Cardinal Stritch, 7-0. Over a five year span, MKE has dominated the Wolves, 30-4.

Fan Update: The Horizon League Board of Directors has decided, as a part of its role of overseeing League-wide safety protocols focused on consistency and clarity for all League competition, that all indoor league sports this year will be played without fans. This policy extends to team pass lists, complimentary tickets and band/spirit squads.

Milwaukee Athletics remains committed to ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes, our staff and the campus and the community. All decisions will be made with the guidance provided by county, state, campus and Horizon League officials. In addition, all game dates and times are subject to change based on current protocols.
