MILWAUKEE, Wis. – With just two non-conference matches left before league play, the Milwaukee tennis team will square off with cross-town rival Marquette Golden Eagles and the Whitewater Warhawks this week.
WHEN & WHERE: The Panthers and Golden Eagles will face off on Wednesday, March 5 from the Helfaer Tennis & Recreation Center in Milwaukee. First serve is set for 5 p.m. Following the dual at Marquette, MKE will travel to Lake Geneva to take on the Warhawks on Saturday, March 7 with a match time of 4 p.m. at the Lake Geneva Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: The Marquette Golden Eagles are currently on a five-match win streak and are 7-5 overall, including a 5-2 record at home. Match wins include fellow horizon league foes UIC and Green Bay, winning 6-1 and 7-0. During their win streak, Marquette has defeated University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Creighton, Western Michigan, DePaul and Xavier.
Marquette is led by Fleur Eggink who is a two-time First Team All Big East winner. She recorded a 14-6 singles record mainly from the No. 1 position and posted nine wins from the No. 1 spot with Natalijia Popovic.
ABOUT THE WARHAWKS: Whitewater is currently ranked No. 39 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Associations' Division III Preseason National Team Rankings. The team advanced to the second round of the NCAA DIII Team Tournament a season ago, and claimed their 13
th straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in the fall. The match against the Panthers will be their first spring match.
PANTHERS DOMINATING DOUBLES: The Panthers are a combined 24-3 in doubles action so far this season. Leading the way are No. 2 doubles team,
Mayya Perova and
Anika Tylek. The duo are 9-2 together.
Anna Daniel Fuentes and
Agata Jurczak are 8-1 together, while
Nicole Clarke and
Nikki Milner are 7-1.
LEAGUE HONORS: Mark it three times this year already that the Panthers have won league awards. Recently, Perova and Tylek were tabbed Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week for the week of Feb. 24. This marks the second time the duo earned the award.
MKE also swept both categories with
Nicole Clarke earning Singles Player of the Week, while
Mayya Perova and
Anika Tylek earned Doubles Team of the Week for the week of Feb. 11.
Finally for the week of Jan. 28, Clarke and
Nikki Milner were also tabbed Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week.
WHAT'S ON TAP NEXT: After the dual at Whitewater, the Panthers won't see action until Saturday, March 21 when they open Horizon League play at Cleveland State. Following CSU, Milwaukee will take on Youngstown State the next day.
