PEORIA, Ill. – The Milwaukee tennis team got an early lead earning the doubles point, but were unable to hold Bradley in singles falling by the score of 4-3 Sunday afternoon at The Clubs in Illinois.
The Panthers (4-3) started the match winning two doubles matches from the start, but came up short in singles against the Braves (3-4).
Earning the point in doubles were the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams for the Panthers. At No. 2, reigning Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week
Mayya Perova and
Anika Tylek won 7-5, and
Anna Daniel Fuentes and
Agata Jurczak pulled out a victory, 6-4.
At singles, senior
Nicole Clarke won in straight sets defeating Natalia Barbery, 6-1, 7-5. With the win, Clarke improves her overall record to 7-0.
Junior
Lucy Harper picked the other Panther singles win defeating Braves' Kinga Kovacs, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) and improving to 4-2.
Next up, the Panthers travel to Iowa to take on Drake Saturday, Feb. 22 and will follow-up with Northern Iowa the next day.
