Anna Daniel Fuentes advance to the Championship round on Sunday.
Milwaukee continued its success in singles play at the Gopher Invite, wrapping up the day 5-2.
After a come from behind win yesterday,
Nicole Clarke won in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 over North Dakota's Nina Zdravkovic. In tomorrow's Singles Draw E Championship round, Clarke will face Isabella Lambert of Minnesota who won her first two matches 6-3, 6-2 and 2,3.
Like Clarke, MKE's
Anika Tylek advances to the Singles Draw F Championship round after defeating Drake's Megan Webb. The two split the first two sets 6-4, 4-6, but it was Tylek who came out on top winning the third and final set, 6-4. Tylek will take on North Dakota's Frida Soko Sunday.
In Group G,
Anna Daniel Fuentes took care of business winning 1-3 over UNI's Vale Caro and will be matched up against Horizon League foe, Estelle Vanthier of Green Bay.
Both
Mayya Perova and
Nikki Milner picked up wins in their respective matches winning 6-3, 7-5 and 6-3, 6-4 and will play for fifth place in each of their groups.
In addition to the five singles wins, the Black & Gold picked up three double match wins as well today.
Duo Clarke and Tylek handled Green Bay, winning by a score of 6-1, while Daniel Fuentes and Perova won 6-2 over Drake.
Agata Jurczak and
Nikki Milner lost in a close battle against Green Bay, 4-6, in the duo's first match Saturday, but came back and won their second match 6-4 over UNI.
The team will wrap up the three-day event Sunday, September 22 beginning at 9 a.m. Doubles will kick off the morning, followed by singles at Baseline Tennis Center.
