Panthers Win in Walk-Off Fashion

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Colin Kreiter of the Milwaukee baseball team came up clutch in the bottom of the 12th knocking in the game-winning run to defeat the St. Norbert Green Knights 5-4 Tuesday from Henry Aaron Field.

As daylight was running low, senior Colin Kreiter ended the game with a single through the right side to score pinch runner Nick Moeser from third. With the win the Panthers improve to 20-13 while the Green Knights fall to 11-11.

Milwaukee jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second scoring three runs on four hits and a St. Norbert error. Catcher Jack Thelen plated the first two runs for the Panthers when he doubled into left center, scoring Tyler Bordner and Joe Vyskocil. Mitchell Buban then knocked in Thelen with a single to left field for the 3-0 advantage.

The Panther lead quickly disappeared when St. Norbert scored two in the third and one in the fourth to tie the ball game at three.

MKE trailed after the top of the sixth, but Thelen tied the game at four with a solo shot over the left center field fence – his third of the season.

MKE's George Swedie kept the Green Knights bats at-bat putting up zeros through the eighth inning to the 12th. Swedie finished a 3.1 IP, one hit, one walk, one strikeout stat line.

In the bottom of the 12th, Milwaukee put together three straight singles from Mike Ferri, Trevor Schwecke and Joe Vyskocil before Kreiter singled through the right side to win the ball game.

Milwaukee resumes Horizon League play against Wright State with a three-game series against Wright State. Game one versus the Raiders is slated for Thursday, April 18 at 1 p.m. from Henry Aaron Field.
