Tennis Prepares for Road Matches at IUPUI & UIC

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – With just three regular-season matches left of the 2019 season, the Milwaukee tennis team will face IUPUI Saturday and league leader UIC Sunday.
 
BRIEF RECAP: Milwaukee earned a weekend sweep with 4-3 wins over Northern Kentucky and Wright State. Both matches for the Panthers came down to the wire with a singles match to clinch victory.
 
Against Northern Kentucky, freshman Nikki Milner came from behind against Katja Dijanezevic winning the next two sets 6-4, 7-5 after falling 0-6 to clinch the match victory for the Panthers.
 
Milwaukee found themselves in similar circumstances the following day against Wright State having the match come down to the final singles match. This time, Mayya Perova came through winning 4-6, 6-1, 7-6.
 
In doubles, both Nicole Clarke and Mayya Perova (No. 1) and Alexandra Belle and Anna Daniel Fuentes went 2-0 on the weekend, while Anna Daniel Fuentes went 2-0 in singles play.
 
ABOUT THE JAGUARS: The IUPUI Jaguars are currently 5-13, 1-4 with a conference victory over Detroit Mercy. The Lady Jags finished in ninth place with a 4-18, 0-8 record a season ago.
 
Redshirt freshman Meghan Bernard and freshman Christina Stankovic lead the Jaguars with 10 wins each on the season.
 
ABOUT THE FLAMES: The reigning 2018 conference champions, the UIC Flames are 15-4, 5-0 with a 13-match win streak.
 
The Flames roster includes five players who have double-digit win totals: Nell Arendt, Karyna Bihel, Rachel Le Comber, Lucie Prochazkova, and Georgie Sanders. Both Prochazkova and Sanders lead the way for the Flames with 12 wins.
 
Lejla Colic sits at 9-8 from the No. 1 line for the Flames, while Rachel Le Comber is currently on an 11-match win streak and has primarily played from the No. 5 line.
 
Head Coach Shannon Tully has been the longstanding coach for the Flames and is a ten-time Horizon League Coach of the Year.
 
AWARDS, AWARDS, AWARDS: The Panthers recently brought home league honors with Nicole Clarke and Mayya Perova being named Doubles Team of the Week (April 10) for going 2-0 over the weekend defeating Northern Kentucky and Wright State as the No. 1 doubles team. In the two matches, the duo gave up just three games winning 6-1, 6-2.
 
The Panthers earned league recognition two other times throughout the season in the weeks Jan. 22 and Feb. 25.
 
Nicole Clarke has earned Singles Player of the Week twice, Alexandra Belle once and double's duo Belle and Perova once as well.
