Panthers Dominate Warhawks, 6-1

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – With it's last non-conference dual, the Milwaukee Tennis team go into league play with a five-match win streak after defeating UW-Whitewater 6-1 Saturday evening from the Lake Geneva Tennis Club.

Milwaukee completed a weekend sweep with a Saturday dual win over the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. With the win, the Panthers improve to 7-6 riding a five-match win streak as they enter league play in two weeks.

"It's been a really good run for us the last few weeks, and we've figured some things out about how we need to compete and the kind of energy we need to play with every match," said head coach Jason Potthoff. "Now we'll get an opportunity to rest up a bit, get healty, and start to turn our focus to Horizon League play."

After earning the doubles point with a sweep over the Warhawks, the Panthers won all but one singles match for the team win.

Like the team streak, both Alexandra Belle and Mayya Perova are on a five-match win streak after tonight's win. Belle defeated Gabi Kitchelle 6-4, 6-2 – tied for team leading ninth win and is 7-3 in her last 10 matches.

Freshman Mayya Perova improves to 7-5 on the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Paige Nierman.

Since moving up to the No. 2 spot in singles, Nicole Clarke is 4-1 and won today without giving up a game, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Up next, the Panthers will open conference hosting Cleveland State Saturday, March 23 and Youngstown State the next day. Both matches are set to be played at River Glen Elite.
