MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee baseball team put six runs on the board, but were unable to stop the hot hitting Flames and fell to UIC in game two of the series Saturday afternoon from Henry Aaron Field.
Milwaukee (13-10, 4-4) pounded out 14 hits, but like Friday's game, were unable to come up with a couple clutch hits when they needed to in order to keep pace with the Flames (10-11, 6-2).
After four and a half innings of play, Milwaukee found themselves in an 11-0 hole before scoring two in the bottom half of the inning.
In the seventh,
Matt Quartel hit his third home run of the season, scoring
Nate DeYoung who singled to center to begin the inning. Pinching hitting in the leadoff spot, sophomore
Zach Nogalski followed Quartel's steps in hitting a solo shot to left center for back-to-back home runs.
UIC answered right back in the top of the eighth with four runs of their own. By the end of the game, the Flame scored in six of the nine frames marking it hard for MKE to keep pace with.
MKE mustered a run in the bottom of the ninth when
Trevor Schwecke drove a ball up the middle to score Nogalski, but all scoring was capped after that with the team falling 21-6.
The Panthers return to the field on Sunday, March 31 to complete the three-game series against UIC. First pitch is slated for a 1 p.m. from Henry Aaron Field.
