MILWAUKEE, Wis. – With a sweep in singles play, the Milwaukee tennis team earned a 6-1 team victory Saturday over Cardinal Stritch at North Shore Elite.
Milwaukee (3-6) came up short in doubles play, but rebounded in a big way in singles sweeping the Cardinal Stritch Wolves 6-0 to earn the victory.
In doubles,
Alexandra Belle and
Mayya Perova continued their terror on the season with a 6-4 win over Klara Smolikova and Antonia Elze. The duo remain undefeated together and improve their record to 9-0 on the season so far.
Three of the six matches in singles went to three sets, but it was the Panthers who prevailed in the end.
Nicole Clarke jumped out to a 7-5 first set victory at line No. 2 for the Panthers, but reigning CCAC Freshman of the Year Lisa Keller fought back and took the second 4-6 forcing a third set. In the end, Clarke endured the third set to win 6-4.
Both
Nikki Milner and
Anna Daniel Fuentes won their first set as well, 6-2, and defeated their opponent in the third set to capture their third win of the season.
Meanwhile, Belle, Perova and
Agata Jurczak defeated their Wolves' opponent in straight sets to complete the sweep.
Next up, MKE will host the Dayton Flyers Sunday (Feb. 24) at River Glen Elite. The dual is slated for 12 p.m.
