Tennis Tripped Up By Eastern Illinois

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – In an all Panthers matchup, the Milwaukee Tennis team lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to Eastern Illinois Saturday afternoon from River Glen Elite.

MKE (2-6) got off to a great start earning the doubles point with a three match sweep over EIU (5-4). Alexandra Belle and Mayya Perova continued to swing the hot racket together to improve to 8-0 with a victory over Rachel Papavasilopoulos and Srishti Slaria, 6-3.

At No. 2 doubles, Nicole Clarke and Loren Nelson took care of business with a 6-2 win, and Nikki Milner and Lucy Harper replicated the same results at No. 3 to earn the doubles point.

It was in singles however, where the EIU Panthers earned the match victory.

Clarke and Agata Jurczak won handedly in their matches, but just two singles wins were not enough to propel MKE to a match victory.

Both Clarke and Jurczak won in straight sets with Clarke winning 6-1, 6-1 and Jurczak winning 6-3, 6-0.

Up next, Milwaukee will take on Cardinal Stritch Friday, Sat. 23 and follow-up with Dayton at 12 p.m. Saturday's match against the Wolves will take place at North Shore Elite beginning at 3 p.m., and a noon start against the Flyers on Sunday.
