Tennis Bounces Back with 7-0 Win Over Crusaders

GRIFFITH, Ind. – The Milwaukee tennis team had a quick turnaround after Saturday's evening match at Chicago State, but the Panthers came back home from Valparaiso with a 7-0 victory over the Crusaders held at Match Point Tennis Club in Indiana.
 
After dropping Saturday's match to Chicago State, the Panthers (2-4) bounced back with a 7-0 sweep over the Valparaiso Crusaders (1-5) breaking a two-match losing streak.
 
Doubles duo Alexandra Belle and Mayya Perova were the lone highlight at Chicago State Saturday, and continued that momentum into today's match against Valpo. After defeating Valpo's Czerwonka and Schoolcraft 6-4, the pair improve their record to 6-0.
 
Also in doubles, Nicole Clarke and Nikki Milner defeated Wind/Kopfer 6-2 to earn the doubles point.
 
In singles play, MKE took care business defeating each Crusader in straight sets.
 
Both Belle and Clarke now lead the team with four wins on the season with Sunady's match wins.
 
Freshman Nikki Milner picked up her second victory on the season after defeating Jordan Kopfer 7-6 (7-0), 6-4.
 
MKE will now stay home in the state of Wisconsin for it's next six matches. Next weekend, the Panthers will take on Drake at a neutral site on Friday, Feb. 15. The dual will begin at 10 a.m. from the Helfaer Tennis Stadium at Marquette. Then the next day, MKE will host Eastern Illinois on home courts River Glen Elite.
