MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Four new student-athletes are set to join the Milwaukee volleyball team next year after signing their official papers on Wednesday.
Head Coach
Susie Johnson announced the addition of Kaley Blake, Melissa Kleman, Emma Loveall, and Sarah Schrader. "I'm excited about all four additions," Johnson commented. "Each one has great leadership ability and can impact our team."
Blake comes to Milwaukee after leading Burlington High School to four straight state tournament appearances including a pair of titles. The 5-foot-7 setter pulled in all sorts of awards including four all-conference nods and four all-state awards including two years on first team.
"Kaley has a high level of competitiveness and tenacity," Johnson stated. "She comes from a winning background and has a lot to do with the success of her high school and club team."
Loveall, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, joins the Panthers after an impressive four-year campaign at Spirit Lake High School. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter earned an all-conference nod all four years, three of which were first team. Loveall currently holds the Spirit Lake record for most kills in a game, season, and career, after totaling over 1,400 for the Indians.
"Emma is a strong, physical volleyball player and will transition quite easily into the Division I level," Johnson commented. "She has a great all-around game and will bring a high level of athleticism to our program."
A three-sport athlete at La Crosse Logan High School, Kleman excelled in volleyball, earning First Team All-Mississippi Valley Conference honors three times after an honorable mentioned nod as a freshman. In 2019-20, Kleman led the MVC in kills and was named team offensive player of the year and was named first team all-state.
"Marissa has a tremendous amount of potential to be a great Division I volleyball player," Johnson said. "She has a great vertical with a lot of length, has the ability to play multiple positions, and is extremely competitive."
At Sussex Hamilton High School, Schrader helped lead the Chargers to the State Tournament with a 31-14 record. The outside hitter was named Division I Second Team All-State her final two seasons in addition to earning first team all-conference honors.
"Sarah has a lot of ball control and range with her attack," Johnson mentioned. "She attacks at a high level and has the ability to be effective as a six-rotation player."
