Panthers Shine in Day Two of WMU Fall Invite

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Milwaukee tennis teamed combined for a 5-1 day in singles play, while Mayya Perova and Nikki Milner remain unbeaten in doubles in the second day of competition at the Western Michigan Fall Invite held at West Hill Athletic Club.

The Panthers struggled in first day of the invite, but rebounded well Saturday taking five-of-six matches in singles. Both Agata Jurczak and Lucy Harper prevailed once again and are still unbeaten. Jurczak took down Bronco's Taylor Smith in straight sets, winning 6-2, 7-6 (5), while Harper came back to win dropping the first, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 over Butler's Hallie Leblebijian.

Picking up the other three wins for the Panthers in singles were Nikki Milner, Mayya Perova and Anika Tylek.

In doubles, Perova and Milner drew Western Michigan's Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Lindsey Zieglar. The sophomore duo had little trouble and took the match 6-2. In round two, Perova and Milner improved to 4-0 overall in the tournament after defeating Marx and McAuley, 6-3 from Butler.

Milwaukee will look to continue its success through the final day of the invite Sunday at the West Hill Athletic Club.
