KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Milwaukee tennis teamed combined for a 5-1 day in singles play, while
Mayya Perova and
Nikki Milner remain unbeaten in doubles in the second day of competition at the Western Michigan Fall Invite held at West Hill Athletic Club.
The Panthers struggled in first day of the invite, but rebounded well Saturday taking five-of-six matches in singles. Both
Agata Jurczak and
Lucy Harper prevailed once again and are still unbeaten. Jurczak took down Bronco's Taylor Smith in straight sets, winning 6-2, 7-6 (5), while Harper came back to win dropping the first, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 over Butler's Hallie Leblebijian.
Picking up the other three wins for the Panthers in singles were
Nikki Milner,
Mayya Perova and
Anika Tylek.
In doubles, Perova and Milner drew Western Michigan's Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Lindsey Zieglar. The sophomore duo had little trouble and took the match 6-2. In round two, Perova and Milner improved to 4-0 overall in the tournament after defeating Marx and McAuley, 6-3 from Butler.
Milwaukee will look to continue its success through the final day of the invite Sunday at the West Hill Athletic Club.
