MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee volleyball team played a thrilling third set rallying from two sets down for the win, but were unable to overcome the deficit in the fourth falling to Green Bay 3-1 Saturday from the Klotsche Center.
 
Freshman Abby Koenen tallied 12 kills, hitting double digits kills for the fifth time in her young career. Senior Shari Volpis also chipped in with 12 kills of her own on the day.
 
Both Rylie Vaugh and Jenn Dore continue to dish it up for MKE combining for 35 assists. Dore tallied 18 while Vaughn contributed with 17.
 
Despite being down two sets, the Panthers didn't give up in the third. The set remained close, staying within a point of each other up until the Panthers went on a 6-3 run, leading 13-10, before Green Bay called a time out.
 
The Panthers continued it's run by going on a 5-1 run before the Phoenix scored another point. Milwaukee fond themselves leading 20-13 before the Phoenix went on a run of their own.
 
Squared up at 24, Milwaukee challenged and contested each play down the wire and ended up winning the third set 27-25 when Shari Volpis smashed it past the GB defense.
 
In the fourth set, Green Bay regained their balanced attack and solid defense to win the set and match.
 
Green Bay's Taylor Wolf led the Phoenix offensively for a match high 18 kills while the team combined for 16 blocks.
 
Milwaukee will look to regroup for a midweek showdown in Indiana on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The Panthers will take on IUPUI at 5 p.m. (CT) from The Jungle.
