MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UIC Flames outlast the Milwaukee Panthers Friday evening spoiling the team's homecoming after being on the road for a month. The Flames defeated the Panthers 3-0 from the Klotsche Center.
 
The Panthers bounced back from a slow start in the first set going on a 3-0 run to come within a point at set point for the Flames' (9-7, 2-1) before Alexandria Hicks closed the door with the kill to win the set. For the rest of the match, MKE struggled to find it's rhythm dropping the next two sets 25-19 and 25-21.
 
Both Rylie Vaughn and Jenn Dore tallied double digit assists, dishing out 17 and 14 to their teammates respectively.
 
UIC's Kiera James had a match-high 11 kills in the match, while Panthers' Carmen Heilemann tallied nine of her own.
 
In the third set, Milwaukee stayed within striking distance of the Flames but were unable to get over the hump. Down four points at 21-17, the Panthers went on another 3-0 run to close the gap at 21-20, but the Flames rallied to a 3-0 run of their own, and closed out the match with Ciara Lamb collecting her eighth kill of the evening.
 
MKE will look to turn it around as they host Green Bay on Saturday. The Panthers and Phoenix are slated for a 4 p.m. start time at the Klotsche Center.
