Milwaukee starts league play with a win

DAYTON, OhioLouise Kiekhofer had a career-high 27 kills to lead the Milwaukee volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Wright State in the Horizon League opener Friday evening from McLin Gymnasium.

"This was such a great team effort," Milwaukee head coach Susie Johnson said. "A lot of different people stepped up in big ways for us tonight. Louise was tremendous. Shanon had such a presence for us tonight. She had eight blocks, but she also had eight digs.

"Wright State played well, but I'm really proud of how our team was able to make adjustments within the match and continue with the game plan."
