Bradley Sweeps Home Tournament With Saturday Win

Milwaukee now turns to conference play, starting Friday

PEORIA, Ill. – Erica Haslag had a match-high 13 kills to lead Bradley to a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee volleyball team Saturday in the final match of the CEFCU Classic from the Renaissance Coliseum, hosted by Bradley.

Coming off a convincing sweep the night before, the Panthers ran into a red-hot Bradley squad that was motivated to finish its home tournament with a perfect record.

"This non-conference schedule has all been about learning for this young team," Milwaukee head coach Susie Johnson said. "This team has really grown up from just four weeks ago and learned a lot about the game and a lot about themselves. And there will still be plenty of learning moments going forward, but our focus now turns to conference play and we know what we have to do there."

Fresh off a career-high kills less than 24 hours earlier, sophomore Carmen Heilemann led MKE with 10 kills in Saturday's finale.

Freshman Jess Grabowski led Milwaukee's strong defensive effort on the day with 28 digs in the three-setter. Kailynn Mongan notched a season-high 16, while Kylie Wilks added 11 and Jenn Dore recorded her second straight double-double with 10 digs and 12 assists.

After the match, Panther freshman Abby Koenen was named to the all-tournament team after tallying 34 kills in the quick three-match tournament, all while hitting an impressive .350 over the weekend.

Milwaukee will now turn its attention to conference play. The Panthers will continue their month-long road trip next weekend when they head to southwestern Ohio for a pair of matches, starting Friday at Wright State.
