Panthers Tripped Up By Bengals

Vaughn with a double-double in the loss

POCATELLO, Idaho – Freshman Rylie Vaughn tallied the third double-double of her young career but it wasn't enough Saturday as the Milwaukee volleyball team dropped a close 3-0 decision to host Idaho State.

Playing their third match in just over 24 hours, the Panthers (0-7) just couldn't get over the hump against a high flying ISU (3-4) team in a highly contested and even match throughout, falling 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.

"It was really nice to be able to come back to my alma mater and to be able to share some of my college memories with this year's team," head coach Susie Johnson said, who was recognized before the start or Saturday's match by Idaho State. "As for today, Idaho State was just on. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team, and they were able to execute very well today."

Vaughn dished out 19 assists to go with a team-high 12 digs to record her second double-double of the weekend tournament and the third of her young career. Jenn Dore also reached double figures in assists Saturday with 14.

Freshman Abby Koenen finished with a match-high 12 kills to lead the way for the Panthers offensively.

Brooke Pehrson led Idaho State with seven blocks on the day, limiting the MKE attack as the Bengals finished with 11 total blocks on the day.

The Panthers will continue their month-long road swing next weekend, heading to a two-day tournament hosted by Western Michigan, starting Friday.
