Serves Up: Panthers Hit the Road South

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team gear up for its final regular season road trip down south to face Horizon League opponents Wright State and Northern Kentucky April 7-8.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Panthers split matches last weekend falling to Oakland 6-1 and defeating Detroit Mercy 4-3.
 
Freshman Agata Jurczak led the way going 2-0 on the weekend defeating Oakland 6-2, 7-5, and won 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in what was a thrilling comeback against Detroit Mercy. Jurczak trailed in the final set 2-5 but came back to win five consecutive games and pull off the comeback victory.
 
Duo Nicole Clarke and Loren Nelson picked up a 6-4 victory in doubles over the Golden Grizzlies while Anna Daniel Fuentes and Clarke picked up single match wins over the Titans.
 
TIME & PLACE: Milwaukee is set to take on Wright State on Sat., April 7 at the South Regency Tennis & Fitness Center. The match is slated for 9:30 a.m. (CT). The following day, the Panthers will face off against Northern Kentucky at 11:30 a.m. (CT) at the Five Seasons Sports Club.

SCOUTING WRIGHT STATE: The Raiders are currently 14-9, 3-0 and are in the top spot in conference. A season ago, Wright State finished 16-14, 4-5 and lost to Youngstown State in the tournament championship, 4-2.
 
The Raiders have five players with double digit wins on the season so far with Karoline Haller and Haily Morgan leading the way.
 
Haller, a two-time first team all-league is currently 12-17, 2-1 and 10-12 at the No. 1 position. The senior finished 15-14 in singles play primarily at the No. 1 spot and 21-6 in doubles with Linsey Verstrepen at No. 2. This season, she and Morgan have teamed up for a 16-7, 3-0 record as the No. 1 doubles team.
 
Haily Morgan competes primarily at the No. 2 position and is 15-15, 1-2 on the season. In 2016-17, the junior finished 19-17 competing mainly at the No. 4 spot and ended 18-6 in doubles.
 
SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY: Northern Kentucky currently sit with a 3-7 overall record and are 1-2 in league play. In 2016-17 the Norse finished up 6-12, 3-6 with Milwaukee defeating NKU 5-2.
 
Margita Sunjic is the primary focus for the Norse as the sophomore is 6-2 and competing at the No. 1 position. The sophomore is coming off a 13-3 rookie campaign in addition to earning Horizon League Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year accolades.

NEXT UP: MKE will finish the regular season with three consecutive matches at home at River Glen Elite. The team will finish conference play with UIC (April 14), IUPUI (April 15) and Green Bay (April 21).
