Serves Up: Tennis Wrap Up Non-Conference Schedule

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – This weekend, the Milwaukee tennis team will wrap up its final non-conference match against Whitewater Friday, March 16 at River Glen Elite.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Milwaukee tennis team took on the Dayton Flyers for the second time in program history falling 4-1. Freshman Agata Jurczak earned a win for the team's only point. Jurczak defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
 
WHEN & WHERE: The dual between Milwaukee and Whitewater Friday, Mach 16 will begin at 1 p.m. at River Glen Elite in Milwaukee.
 
SCOUTING WHITEWATER: The DIII powerhouse has won 10-straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team championships and is currently 10-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the WIAC ranking them No. 28 in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women's National Team Ranksings. The Warhawks are coming off a season where they made it to the second round of the NCAA DIII National Tournament before falling to Hope (Mich.) a year ago.
 
The high caliber roster consists of eight athletes who currently hold double-digit wins with Sabrina Palavra and Alexandra Talyansky leading the way with 18 wins each in addition to DIII All-Americans Bridgid McGuire and Jillian Wallace who hold a 19-2 overall record in doubles this year.
 
The Warhawks rely heavily on its upperclassmen for experience and production. Of the eight upperclassmen, four have been past WIAC champions in singles and/or doubles and three garner All-American status.
 
HEAD-TO-HEAD: This marks the 11th time the Panthers and Warhawks have met in program history with each program winning five, with the Panthers winning the last five meetings.
 
HOME SWEET HOME: In its nine-match conference schedule, Milwaukee will host five of those; Oakland, Detroit Mercy and three-straight before the Horizon League Tournament, UIC, IUPUI and Green Bay.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: With its last non-conference match, Milwaukee will turn its head to Horizon League play next weekend. The Panthers will begin league play with Youngstown State and Cleveland State. The Penguins were tabbed as preseason ranked No. 2 and Vikings picked at No. 3.
