MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team travels to the state of Iowa for two non-conference matches this weekend, starting Friday.
UWM will take on Drake Friday at 1 p.m. before heading across town 23 hours later to take on Northern Iowa.
LAST TIME OUT: On Friday, February 2, the Panthers traveled just across the state border for a dual against Northern Illinois. The match was highlighted by
Anna Daniel Fuentes who picked up her first victory of the 2018 season at No. 3 singles. Fuentes' match win accounted for the lone victory in a 6-1 loss to the Huskies.
WHEN AND WHERE: Milwaukee is set to face Drake on Friday, February 8 at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa at 1 p.m. Fans can follow live results from the match
HERE. Following Friday's match against the Bulldogs, Milwaukee will take on Northern Iowa the next day. In a Panthers vs. Panthers dual, the two teams are set to begin at 12 p.m. at the Black Hawk Tennis Center in Waterloo, Iowa.
OPPOSITE THE NET VS. DRAKE: The Bulldogs currently sit undefeated and are 5-0 so far. Drake finished tied for fifth place finishing 10-11, 2-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference a season ago. This season the Bulldogs have been tabbed as preseason favorites to win the conference.
The Bulldogs are led by three seniors, Summer Brills, Tess Herder and Mela Jaglrz. Brills leads the team with a 12-5 No. 1 singles record in 2017, and was named to the MVC All-Select Team. Brills' has competed in the No. 1 singles slot all season and currently sits 4-0.
OPPOSITE THE NET VS. NORTHERN IOWA: UNI is currently 1-2 with losses against Big Ten opponents, Iowa and Minnesota. The Panthers wrapped up the 2017 season tied for seventh place in the Missouri Valley Conference with an 8-11, 1-6 record.

LOOKING AHEAD: After a weekend in Iowa, Milwaukee will play a single dual against Big Ten foe Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. on February 17. Following Northwester, UWM will begin a four-match homestand against South Dakota State (Feb. 24), Chicago State (Feb. 25), Cardinal Stritch (March 2) and cross-town rival Marquette (March 3).
