WATERLOO, Iowa – Playing its second match in as many days, the Milwaukee tennis team camp up just short against Northern Iowa Saturday afternoon at Black Hawk Tennis Center, falling by a score of 4-3.
Tied at one match a piece, the doubles points came down to UWM's
Nicole Clarke and
Lucy Harper duo versus Claudia Toledo and Savanna Hunt. The two teams exchanged points throughout the tiebreaker, but Northern Iowa came out on top winning 7-6 (7-5) in the tiebreaker – which ultimately became the deciding factor in the overall match.
At No. 3 singles play, sophomore
Anna Daniel Fuentes picked up her second dual match victory of the season with a win over UNI's Harry Proudfoot. Fuentes won in two sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Milwaukee's Clarke and Harper also picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Harper swept Savanna Hunt 6-4, 6-4, while Clarke went to three sets defeating Valentina Caro 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, respectively.
UWM will regroup and return to action on Sat., February 17 against Big Ten opponent Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
