Both senior student-athletes are earning the honor for the first time in their careers. It also marks the sixth and seventh women's players to be named to the prestigious squad in the past four seasons. They were both selected to the Horizon League All-Academic Team earlier this fall.
Swenson became the first-ever league player to earn the Defensive Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons since the award's inception, adding to her second straight First-Team All-Horizon League accolades. She continues to excel on the backline, helping Milwaukee to a league-best 0.54 goals-against average and 10 shutouts. She also adds to the game plan offensively, recording eight points on three goals and two assists. One of those goals came at the biggest time of the year, serving as the game-winner in the Horizon League Tournament Championship to help Swenson on her way to Tournament MVP honors.
Off the field, Swenson is a civil engineering major who carries a perfect 4.0 GPA in the classroom.
Corrigan joined Swenson with postseason league honors as a member of the Second-Team this fall. She has enjoyed a phenomenal senior campaign, setting career-highs across the board with her 18 points coming on three goals and a league-leading 12 assists. The majority of her points have come on corner kicks, a role she has nearly perfected this fall. Her 12 assists also stands fourth in the NCAA.
Off the field, Corrigan is a double-major in psychology and conservation science, carrying a 3.92 GPA in the classroom.
As a member of the Capital One All-District First Team in District 6, the duo will move on to the national ballot later this month. The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
