MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team will travel just across the state border to meet up with Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 2. The Panthers and Huskies are set to begin at 12 p.m. at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill.
LAST TIME OUT: Last weekend, the Panthers competed against in-state rivals Wisconsin and followed up with Colorado State two days later. UWM dropped both matches 0-5 to Wisconsin and 1-6 to Colorado State. Against the Rams, sophomore
Nicole Clarke picked up her second win defeating Emma Corwin 6-4, 7-5.
OPPOSITE THE NET VS. NIU: Northern Illinois currently sit 0-2 with losses to Southern Missouri State and Bradley. The Huskies met up with the Redhawks and Braves in a daytime doubleheader on January 27, dropping both matches 4-3 and 6-1.
NIU graduated their No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles team who garnered most of the team's 2017 victories. The Huskies, however, return three seniors, Abigail Dekking, Michelle Erasmus and Evelyn Youel. The three seniors combine for 131 wins who primarily played in the No. 4-6 singles.
WHERE AND WHERE: Milwaukee and Northern Illinois square off Friday, Feb. 2 at 12 p.m. The two teams will play at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford, Ill.
