MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Nicole Clarke led the Milwaukee Tennis team with a win, but the team came up short against Colorado State Sunday afternoon at River Glen Elite, falling by a score of 6-1.
After a CSU sweep in doubles play, the Panthers started to regroup in singles action.
In the No. 5 singles position,
Nicole Clarke toughed out Ram's Emma Corwin for a 6-4, 7-5 victory. Clarke's win accounted for the Panthers lone win and her second match of the young 2018 season.
Freshman
Loren Nelson dropped the first set 6-1, but returned with a 6-2 win in the second set forcing a third for the match. In the third, Nelson and Alyssa Grijalva rallied back and forth, but Grijalva came out on top to win 6-3.
Milwaukee now has a week to prepare before they hit the road to Northern Illinois. The Panthers and Huskies will square off at the Boylan Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
