JACKSON, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team battled tough with DePaul today at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club & Fitness in Jackson, Wis., but the Blue Demons snuck by the Panthers 4-3.
Milwaukee got off to a great start by taking the doubles point. Duo
Loren Nelson and
Agata Jurczak defeated the Blue Demons pair, Patricia Lancranjan and Marija Jovicic 6-2. "We worked on our doubles play the whole practice on Saturday and it paid off," said head coach
Jason Potthoff. "I'm confident that we will continue to improve our doubles play all year."
In singles play, the Blue Demons thrived from the start taking the first three matches. At No. 4,
Agata Jurczak competed hard against Milica Tesic, but fell just short of a win, losing the match 7-5, 6-3.
The young Panther squad continues to make positive strides forward as they prepare for back-to-back home matches against Wisconsin and Colorado State next Friday and Sunday. "Everyone has their head up and looking forward to next weekend, and we're excited to play two more great programs."
On Friday, Jan. 26 Milwaukee will host Wisconsin and are set to play at Brookfield Elite beginning at 6:30 p.m.
