MILWAUKEE – Four Panthers were in action Friday at Town Club as part of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Senior Labina Petrovska, sophomores Nicole Clarke and Anna Daniel Fuentes, and freshman Loren Nelson all competed in singles, but were unable to put together a win in day two of the tournament.
 
Panthers' Loren Nelson and Nicole Clarke began the day early with 8 a.m. draws against Bailey Padgett (Butler) and No. 5 Stefana Andrei (Louisiana-Monroe).
 
Nelson fought tough in the first set losing 7-5, but was unable to rebound in the second falling 6-1. She went on to face Montana Crawford (Iowa) in the consolation draw and was swept 6-1, 6-1.
 
No. 5 Stefana Andrei defeated Nicole Clarke 6-0, 6-1 in her first match and faced Maryann Rompf (Wisconsin) for her second. Clarke dropped the match 6-0, 6-1.
 
Both Fuentes and Petrovska drew the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds in their first rounds of the tournament and fell 6-0, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1 to the ranked opponents.
 
Petrovska won the first set of her second match against Michelle Linden (Wisconsin) 7-6 (8). Linden squared it up in the second set winning 6-2 and won the 10-point tiebreak 10-2 to take the match.
 
Fuentes finished the day with matchup against Summer Brills of Drake. Brills took the match 6-2, 6-3.
 
UWM will be back in action for a two-day event in Whitewater, Wis. For the Warhawk Fall Invite. Day one of the Invite begins Friday, Oct. 6.
