Nolan Paces Bearcats Past Panthers

Milwaukee returns with two matches Saturday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Carly Nolan had 19 kills to pace the way for Cincinnati in a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee volleyball team Friday evening from Cliff Keen Arena.

The Bearcats – who won 22 matches a year ago – hit .291 as a team en route to the 25-16, 26-24, 25-15 win in the first match of the Michigan Challenge.

Caitlin Schultz led the Milwaukee attack with nine kills, while freshman Makenzie Mroczenski had seven.

Jenn Dore dished out another 25 assists for Milwaukee, while Kylie Wilks and Dore each had eight digs.

After the Bearcats took set one, Milwaukee battled back in set two. UWM used a 6-1 run to go to jump ahead 14-12. After a Cincinnati run put them up 24-21, the Panthers continued to show their fight. Schultz got things going with a kill, followed by a block by Schultz and Jess Kalous. Milwaukee then tied things up 24-all to force extras, only to see Cincinnati find a way late for the win.

It's a quick bounce back for UWM, taking on No. 21 Michigan at 10 am Central.
