Panthers Return To Winning Ways Against Green Bay

Milwaukee sweeps Phoenix

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Milwaukee tennis team returned to its winning ways in a big way Friday, posting a convincing 7-0 win over in-state rival Green Bay from Western Racquet.

"This was a total team effort tonight," Milwaukee head coach Jeff Aranda said. "We've dealt with plenty of adversity the past few weeks, and doing so on the road is never easy. Tonight, we showed we have what it takes to overcome that adversity and keep moving forward."

Much like last week, the Panthers jumped out of the gates red hot. Alysa Straub and Berta Masdevall Masip made quick work of their opponents at the No. 1 doubles spot for a 6-1 win, before Labina Petrovska and Hayley Marshall cruised to a 6-0 win at the No. 2 doubles position to give the Panthers the early lead.

It was much of the same in singles play as UWM dominated across the board, not dropping a single set.

Nicole Clarke picked up her 11^th win of her young career with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the sixth spot. Fellow freshman Eszter Zador won her second straight with a 6-1, 6-3 'W' over Tallie Piaskowski at the No. 2 spot.

Straub and Marshall both marched through their opponents with 6-1, 6-1 wins at the fourth and fifth spot, while Masdevall Masip recorded her 18^th win of her first season with a 6-1, 7-5 win.

With the team victory already in hand, Petrovska completed the team sweep with the closest match of the day at the top spot. The junior battled for a 7-6 (6), 6-2 win over Chiara Berg to send Milwaukee home with the convincing win.

UWM is now off until next weekend with trips to Valparaiso and UIC on Saturday and Sunday.
