Tennis Falls To Penguins In Season Finale

Three seniors close out Panther careers

MILWAUKEE – Three seniors closed out their impressive careers as the Milwaukee tennis team finished its season with a 6-1 loss to Youngstown State Sunday afternoon from River Glen Elite.

UWM finished the season with a 9-14 record overall and a 3-6 mark in the Horizon League, taking seventh in the league standings and just missing the conference tournament.

The Penguins (14-8 overall, 8-1 Horizon) won their eighth-straight conference match and clinched a share of the league title.

For just the second time this conference season, the Panthers dropped the doubles point as YSU took the early lead.

In singles action, freshman Berta Masdevall Masip recorded her 21st win of the season with a 7-6, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot.

Eszter Zador and Alysa Straub both forced extras in their sets but couldn't quite find the winner in a pair of close matches.

Milwaukee says goodbye to three outstanding seniors as Hayley Marshall, Aerielle Pendleton and Alysa Straub all closed out their four-year careers.
