Tennis Wraps Up Home Stand Friday

Panthers host Northern Illinois at 1 pm

MILWAUKEE – Looking to build off its win the last time out, the Milwaukee women's tennis team returns to action this Friday for a 1 pm match against Northern Illinois at River Glen Elite.

Last Time Out
Milwaukee split its doubleheader on Sunday, coming up just short to Drake before a big win over NAIA powerhouse Cardinal Stritch. Playing NAIA rules, the Panthers won a pair of doubles matches to start things off strong before three quick wins in singles play to notch the team victory.

Scouting The Opponents
Northern Illinois is 6-5 on the young season. Friday's competition will be the third of the year against the Horizon League for the Huskies, who claimed a 7-0 win over Green Bay before falling, 6-1, to UIC just last week.

NIU certainly has plenty of talent, with its No. 1 doubles owning a perfect 7-0 record thus far. Senior Adey Osabuohien – who makes up half of that talented doubles pairing – is also 6-2 in singles action on the season, all at the top spot.

A Look At Last Year
Milwaukee continued its trend in the right direction in 2016, as Jeff Aranda led the team to a 12-10 record overall – their third winning season in the last four years.

Aranda – who was named the program's 10th coach in program history – had instant success, highlighted by a 6-3 mark in league play. A pair of Panthers earned All-Horizon League honors, as Labina Petrovska was named to the first-team squad and Hayley Marshall second-team all league.
