Panthers Split Sunday Doubleheader

Milwaukee takes down Cardinal Stritch

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's tennis team put together a solid win Sunday afternoon in a 5-1 win over NAIA power Cardinal Stritch to split a double header Sunday.

UWM (3-6) convincingly took down Cardinal Stritch (3-1), dominating at every level Sunday afternoon from North Shore Elite.

"This was a great team win," Milwaukee head coach Jeff Aranda said. "It was great to get back in the winning column. We've had some tough opponents and had to deal with a variety of shifts in our lineup the last few weeks. I'm confident in our team though, and I'm excited for one last home match before we hit the road."

Milwaukee started things out with a n 8-7 (7-4) win at the No. 1 doubles spot with Alysa Straub and Berta Masdevall Masip claimed a win, followed by Hayley Marshall and Labina Petrovska at the second spot (8-3).

Then, in singles action, Labina Petrovska, Eszter Zador, and Nicole Clarke all won to send the Panthers home with the win.

In the first match of the day, Milwaukee battled hard and came up just short in a 4-0 decision with powerhouse Drake.

The Panthers have one match next week – a Friday contest scheduled for 1 pm against Northern Illinois from River Glen Elite.
