Doubleheader On The Docket For Tennis Sunday

Panthers host Drake, Cardinal Stritch from River Glen Elite

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee tennis team returns to action this weekend for a busy Sunday, taking on a pair of opponents in a doubleheader from River Glen Elite starting at 1 pm.

UWM will first welcome Drake to town for a 1 pm match before taking on in-town foe Cardinal Stritch in a match scheduled for 5 pm.

Last Time Out
Playing their second Big Ten foe in just over 24 hours, the banged up Milwaukee tennis team came up short last Saturday, 7-0, from River Glen Elite. The Panthers, which had to considerably adjust its lineup due to a few injuries, battled hard but Minnesota proved too much on the day.

Scouting The Opponents
Drake enters the weekend with a 4-3 overall record. The Bulldogs last played two weeks ago, taking down Colorado State in a tight 4-3 contest on Feb. 18. Prior to the match at River Glen, Drake will first go up against Marquette on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Stritch is a perfect 3-0 on their young season. The Wolves own a pair of wins over Division-I foes in South Dakota State and Green Bay, with another win over fellow NAIA institution Davenport.

A Look At Last Year
Milwaukee continued its trend in the right direction in 2016, as Jeff Aranda led the team to a 12-10 record overall – their third winning season in the last four years.

Aranda – who was named the program's 10^th coach in program history – had instant success, highlighted by a 6-3 mark in league play. A pair of Panthers earned All-Horizon League honors, as Labina Petrovska was named to the first-team squad and Hayley Marshall second-team all league.
