Milwaukee takes down SCAD-Atlanta

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Milwaukee women's tennis team claimed an emphatic 6-1 win to force a split in a doubleheader Tuesday in Orlando, Fla.

UWM took down SCAD-Atlanta, 6-1, in the second of two matches on the day after a loss to UCF earlier in the day.

"This has been a great trip for our team," Milwaukee head coach Jeff Aranda said. "We've been fortunate enough to play the majority of our matches at home early in the season. Hitting the road has been a challenge, but I like how our team has responded, especially with a big win in our second match today."

Milwaukee bounced back from a loss earlier in the day with a big win in game two. The Panthers took down SCAD-Atlanta (5-5) for a 6-1 win in the second match of the day.

It all started in doubles play with a Panther sweep. Berta Masdevall Masip and Alysa Straub led the way with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot, with the second and third spots following suit.

Then, in singles action, Nicole Clarke earned a win to make it 2-0 UWM, before Straub cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth spot to make it 3-0.

Labina Petrovska then recorded a big 6-1, 6-1 win at the top spot to clinch the team win for Milwaukee.

Hayley Marshall (6-1, 7-5) and Masdevall Masip (6-1, 6-0) added on from there to end Milwaukee's spring break road trip on a high note.

In the first match of the day, Clarke claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win over UCF's Nicole Jimenez for Milwaukee's lone win of the match.

Up next, the Panthers start conference play at home Saturday by hosting Northern Kentucky at 1 pm at River Glen Elite.
