Milwaukee Tennis Hits The Road For Spring Break Trip

Panthers to play four matches over next five days

MILWAUKEE – Fresh off a pair of big home wins, the Milwaukee tennis team hits the road for four matches over the next five days in Ohio and Florida, starting Friday.

The Panthers start things off with a neutral-site match against St. Bonaventure Friday in Akron, Ohio, before taking on the hometown Zips Saturday morning.

From there, it's off to Orlando, Fla. to square off with Central Florida and SCAD-Atlanta in a double header scheduled for Tuesday.

Last Time Out
The Panthers put together one of their most complete matches of the season with a 5-2 win over Northern Illinois Friday at River Glen. Milwaukee swept through doubles play before taking four points in singles play. Eszter Zador's straight-sets win at the No. 2 spot clinched the victory for the home squad.

Black & Gold Network Feature
Heading into the spring break trip, Milwaukee head coach Jeff Aranda sat down in the Black & Gold Network studios to talk about how things have gone thus far this season and where the team is at heading into its first big road trip of the year.

League Recognition
Following last week's win over Northern Illinois, the Horizon League office took note of Milwaukee's exceptional play from that win. Eszter Zador was named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week for her 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot that clinched the team win. Meanwhile, Berta Masdevall Masip and Alysa Straub were named the league's top doubles tandem for the week after their 6-4 win at the top spot, handing NIU its first loss at No. 1 doubles of the season.

A Look At Last Year
Milwaukee continued its trend in the right direction in 2016, as Jeff Aranda led the team to a 12-10 record overall – their third winning season in the last four years.

Aranda – who was named the program's 10th coach in program history – had instant success, highlighted by a 6-3 mark in league play. A pair of Panthers earned All-Horizon League honors, as Labina Petrovska was named to the first-team squad and Hayley Marshall second-team all league.
