Tennis Sweeps Athlete Of The Week Honors

Zador, Straub, Masdevall Masip all recognized

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee women's tennis team has swept the Horizon League Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Eszter Zador has been named the league's singles player of the week, while Alysa Straub and Berta Masdevall Masip were named the league's doubles team of the week.

This marks the third time in her career that Straub has been recognized by the Horizon League, while the awards are a first for both newcomers Zador and Masdevall Masip.

Straub and Masdevall Masip helped Milwaukee to a big win over Northern Illinois on Friday. The tandem started things off with a big win at the top spot, handing NIU its first loss at No. 1 doubles of the entire season. Not only that, that win clinched the doubles point for the Panthers before sweeping doubles play to take the early lead.

Then, in singles action, Zador finished things off. With the team leading 3-2, Zador notched her second-straight win at the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. That sealed the win for UWM heading into its spring break trip.

The Panthers now hit the road over the university's spring break, heading to Akron, Ohio for a pair of matches before two more matches down in Orlando, Fla.
