Tennis To Play Pair Of Matches In Florida

Milwaukee looks to keep it rolling on spring break

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's tennis team is on spring break in sunny Florida but will still be doing plenty of work.

The Panthers will get to practice outdoors all week long while also playing a pair of matches, starting Wednesday.

Milwaukee will take on Bucknell in Orlando on Wednesday before a Friday pairing at nationally ranked Florida International University.

Strong Start
Milwaukee is off to a solid start this season, sitting at 5-5 after 10 games in the spring season. While it is still early, that is a significant improvement from last year's 2-8 start through the first 10 games.

About Bucknell
The Bison head into Wednesday's match 4-2 overall after a 5-2 win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday. Bucknell holds other wins Saint Francis, Niagara and St. Bonaventure, while falling to fellow Horizon League school Youngstown State.

Senior Maria Cioffi leads the team with 12 overall wins, while freshman Lauren Fishbein is 4-1 in dual action on the season.

About FIU
Florida International is once again having a very strong season. The Panthers, ranked 57th in the nation, are off to an 11-2 start to the season. In fact, No. 41 Colombia handed FIU its first loss in over a month Tuesday afternoon, 4-3. Their lone other loss in dual action was also a 4-3 decision to Troy.

Redshirt freshman Andrea Lazaro is a perfect 12-0 in singles play, while Maryna Veksler is 9-2 at the No. 1 spot and Carlotta Orlando is 9-2 at the No. 3 spot this season.
