Milwaukee Sweeps Wolves For Third-Straight Win

Panthers now 3-2 on the season

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's tennis team kept a clean sheet in decisive 7-0 win over Cardinal Stritch Sunday afternoon from River Glen Elite.

The win is the third in a row for the Panthers and the second in as many days. UWM took down a Cardinal Stritch team that was ranked fifth in the NAIA and was 1-0 on the young season with a win over D-I opponent Green Bay.

Milwaukee had to battle early, with all three doubles matches closely contested. But, UWM would prevail in all three to emphatically take the doubles point.

Things weren't quite as close in singles action.

Alysa Straub claimed the most convincing win of the day, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot. It was much of the same for freshman Laurie Clark at the No. 3 spot, strong from start to finish for a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Labina Petrovska (6-1, 6-4), Hayley Marshall (6-2, 7-5), Dana Shannon (7-6 [3], 6-2) and Aerielle Pendleton (7-5, 4-6 [10-3]) all also were winners on the day for the decisive Panther W.

Milwaukee returns to action next weekend with another pair of home matches, starting Friday against Akron.
