Panther Tennis Hosts No. 51 DePaul Sunday

Milwaukee continues big home stand

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's tennis team continues its big home stand with a Sunday match up against No. 51 DePaul.

Sunday's match gets under at 1 p.m. from North Shore Elite, with this marking the second time already this season UWM is squaring off against a nationally ranked opponent.

Bouncing Back
The Panthers suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses its last two times out; both of the 4-3 variety.

Milwaukee has already shown its ability to bounce back from tough losses already this season, and head coach Jeff Aranda is confident his team can do that again.

"The two matches that we lost to Akron and northern Illinois were great matches in the fact that it motivated the ladies to be much more hungry," Aranda said. "We are really focused on doing the best we can in the Horizon League and I feel that we have a chance of even winning the league this year."

Time Away
With no matches last week, the Panthers have had their first small break in action of the season after starting the year with seven matches in the first four weeks.

"The two weeks off was a good reenergizing period for all the ladies," Aranda said. "We went back to the drawing board and are working very hard. We play DePaul on Sunday at 1 o'clock and we are looking forward to the opportunity of playing one of the top ranked teams in the NCAA."

About DePaul
While this weekend marks the first time the Panthers will play just one match in a weekend since the season opener, it happens to be against the 51st ranked team in the nation in DePaul.

The Blue Demons have a busy weekend, taking on No. 63 Indiana in Bloomington on Saturday before the five-hour drive to Milwaukee for Sunday's match.

DePaul has a deceiving 4-5 overall record and has won its last two heading into the weekend. In fact, Milwaukee will be just the second team DePaul has faced all year that isn't ranked in the national poll.

Grad student Rebeca Mitrea leads the Blue Demons with 12 wins on the season, helping her team to two-straight team victories.
