Doubles Play Shines In Day One At Whitewater

Lobanova, Pendleton take doubles title

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Masha Lobanova and Aerielle Pendleton claimed a doubles title to headline a solid first day of action for the Milwaukee tennis team Friday at the Warhawk Fall Invite at Wangerin Courts.

Paired for the first time this fall, Lobanova and Pendleton were efficient in all three of their matches Friday. The Panther duo won its first match, 8-3, before back-to-back 8-6 victories in the semi final and final to claim the title.

Also in doubles play, Alysa Straub and Hayley Marshall won their first two matches before an incredibly close 8-7 (5) loss in the final to settle for runners up. Meanwhile, after newcomers Berta Masdevall Masip and Nicole Clarke dropped their first match, they rebounded to take the next two in convincing fashion for a consolation final title.

In singles action, Eszter Zador cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win in the top flight to lead the way for Milwaukee.

Marshall, Pendleton and Lobanova all also won their singles matches on Friday, while Clarke advanced on an opening-draw bye.

Singles play continues Saturday starting at 9 am.
