MILWAUKEE - Eleven spring sport student-athletes from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee were named to their respective Horizon League All-Academic Teams when it was announced today by the league office.

Milwaukee's 11 student-athletes selected ranked fourth among Horizon League member institutions, a total reached despite the fact that UWM sponsors only four of the eight sports possible. Youngstown State led with 18, Oakland was second with 16.

The Panthers had four members of the men's track & field team in seniors
Alex Chollet and
Jordan Schmidt and juniors
Brett Pozolinski and
Reed Schmidt. The women's track & field team and baseball each had three players recognized. The women were represented by senior
Dana Clausen and sophomore
Leah Holmes and
Kate Novacek.

The baseball team had seniors
Sam Koenig and
Mike Porcaro and junior
Luke Meeteer honored and
Christina Colarossi from the women's tennis rounded out the list of 11.

Chollet and J. Schmidt go out in style, graduating with two more awards to their names. Chollet (3.442, Mechanical Engineering) was named the Horizon League Field Athlete of the Meet at the outdoor championships and closed out his career competing at the NCAA Regionals in Austin, Texas. J. Schmidt (3.268, Finance) graduates with a host to trophies to his name, including the league track athlete of the meet and the high point scorer at the league championships and winning an incredible four league titles. Pozolinski (3.897, Kinesiology) nearly broke the school high jump record this season and just missed a trip to regionals, while R. Schmidt (3.733, Biological Sciences -Â Pre-Dentistry)Â closed out a strong season taking third in the 800m in conference.

Clausen (3.649, Nursing) led the way, winning her third-straight 800m title this outdoor season. Novacek (3.561, Actuarial Sciences) won her first individual league title in the 400m during her sophomore season, while Holmes (3.895, Kinesiology) scored in both the 800m and 1500m at just her second league meet.

Koenig (3.86, Education) was recently named the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America of the Year for NCAA Division I Baseball. A First-Team All-Horizon League member in 2015, he led the conference in numerous categories, batting .361 with 57 runs batted in. He finished sixth all-time with 231 hits. Porcaro (3.61, Journalism) batted .296 with 43 runs scored and 56 hits in 2015, becoming the 11
th player to reach 200 career hits in finishing with 215. Meeteer (3.55, Kinesiology) batted .321 while finishing first in the conference in stolen bases (37), hit-by-pitches (16) and plate appearances (285). His 37 steals smashed the school record of 24.

Colarossi (3.846, Microbiology) goes out as one of the top players in Panther tennis history. The senior graduates as the program leader in a host of categories, including career wins (152) and career doubles wins (90).

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
